Specialty-Based Approach

Hospital Billing Built Around Your Facility

We cover the revenue cycle from charge capture through payment posting. There's no one-size-fits-all setup: we start by looking at your current billing performance, payer contracts and denial patterns, then agree with you on what we'll handle.

Why Outsource

Why Hospitals Choose to Outsource Their Billing

Hospital administrators and CFOs weigh the cost of building and maintaining an in-house billing department against the risk of revenue leakage, compliance exposure, and staffing instability. For many facilities, outsourcing to a specialized partner is the more cost-effective option. Here is why hospitals consider outsourcing to MedixCode:

Staffing and Turnover Risk.

Hospital billing requires specialized skills that are in short supply. Staff turnover in billing departments is costly and disruptive. Outsourcing takes that risk off your payroll: coverage doesn't depend on one or two people staying.

Keeping Pace with Regulatory Change.

CMS updates, payer policy changes, and coding guideline revisions occur continuously. We track CMS and payer updates, such as the 2026 changes above, and apply them to your billing.

Scalability.

Volume swings, seasonal surges, facility expansions, and new service lines are easier to handle with MedixCode, because you’re not limited by the size of your internal team.

Technology Investment.

You don't need new software. We work inside your existing EHR/PM system and clearinghouse, including Epic, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Tebra and AdvancedMD, and you keep ownership of your data.

Focus on Core Operations.

When your administrative leadership is not managing billing complexity, they are free to focus on quality improvement, patient experience, and strategic growth.

Measurable Accountability.

Unlike internal departments, where performance data can be difficult to surface, we report results to you on a regular schedule, so performance is easy to see.

2026 updates for hospitals (CMS):

Under the CY 2026 OPPS final rule, drug administration services at excepted off-campus hospital outpatient departments are paid at a site-neutral, physician fee schedule–equivalent rate (rural sole community hospitals are exempt). The rule also expanded hospital price transparency: when a payer-specific negotiated charge is based on a percentage or algorithm, machine-readable files must now report the 10th percentile, median and 90th percentile allowed amounts, and the file must include an attestation naming a senior official. These requirements took effect January 1, 2026, with enforcement from April 1, 2026.
